ISTANBUL (AA) - The opening bell of Turkey's stock exchange rang for gender equality on Friday, marking International Women's Day.

Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak said the ceremony at Borsa Istanbul will pave the way to greater awareness of gender inequality.

Highlighting the importance of women playing an active role in every area of society, Albayrak said:

"Women's participation in all areas, from education to politics, from economy to health, helps us to achieve a more inclusive and efficient production structure while bringing us closer to our goal of equality."
