ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark index started the day with a 63.58-point increase to open at 89,201.95 on Friday.
During the first transactions of the day, the BIST 100 index rose by 0.07 percent while the banking and holding sector indices increased by 0.16 and 0.15 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the tourism index was the best performer -- 0.68 percent -- while the trade sector started Friday with the largest decline, falling 0.39 percent.
At Thursday's closing session, the benchmark index was up 0.69 percent -- increasing 607.10 points -- to 89,138.37 points with a total trading volume of 4 billion Turkish liras ($1.12 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.5720 at 09.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, compared with 3.5670 at Thursday's close.
