ANKARA (AA) – Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index rose 0.42 percent at open on Thursday.
The benchmark index of Turkey's sole stock exchange advanced 0.42 percent, or 325.84 points in the first transactions of the day, to open from 77,992.42 points.
The insurance sector was the best performer among sub-indexes, rising by 0.94 percent while main metal industry sector was the only sub-index that experienced a loss of 0.1 percent.
On Wednesday, the Borsa Istanbul closed the day 0.35 percent higher despite the Turkish lira falling steeply against the U.S. dollar, suggesting Turkish markets do not share the anxiety with regards to the foreign exchange markets in Turkey.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate retreated to 3.8963 at 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT) on Thursday, compared with 3.9120 at Wednesday's close.
