ANKARA (AA) – The Borsa Istanbul BIST 100 index slipped 0.30 percent to open at 83,578.96 points on Friday.
The benchmark index of Turkey's sole stock exchange fell 247.58 points in the first transactions of the day.
The banking and holding sector indices were down 0.31 and 0.21 percent, respectively.
The insurance sector was the best performer among sub-indices, rising by 0.40 percent, while the construction sector was the only sub-index that experienced a loss of 0.96 percent.
Turkish markets will focus on Fitch’s ratings review of the country on Friday.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.8940 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, compared with 3.8610 at Thursday's close.
Gold held at $1,182.12 an ounce.
U.S. crude futures rose 0.11 percent to $53.84 a barrel, while benchmark Brent crude futures climbed 0.03 percent to $56.25.
