ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,551.54 points on Friday, up 0.33% or 5.13 points from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index closed Thursday at 1,546.41 points, with a daily trading volume of 37.8 billion liras ($5.4 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.9900 from 6.9660 as of 9:30 a.m. local time (0630GMT).
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 8.4700 from 8.4240, while one British pound traded for 9.8000 on Friday, versus 9.7540 at Thursday’s close.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $63.30 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
