ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index rose 122.25 points to open at 87,598.98 during its first transactions on Wednesday.
The benchmark index started with a 0.14 percent increase in the third opening session of the week.
The banking sector index was up 0.20 percent while the holding sector index was down 0.16 percent.
Turkey’s tourism sector was the best performer among sub-indices -- 0.90 percent -- while the insurance index fell the most, declining 0.50 percent.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.7380 at 9.30 a.m. (0630GMT) Wednesday, compared with 3.7270 at Tuesday's close.
Gold held at $1,231.1 an ounce.
