ANKARA (AA) – Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 196.46 points at opening Wednesday.
Turkey’s stock exchange was up 0.33 percent to open at 75,347.02 points.
All BIST 100 sub-indices were in positive territory; the best performing sub-index was the financial leasing sector.
The index was 0.98 percent higher -- at 75,150.56 points -- on the previous day’s close on the back of a decline in U.S. bond yields and moderate improvement in emerging market currencies.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate, which was at 3.2900 by the time markets closed at 5.30 p.m. (1430GMT) Tuesday, edged up 0.12 percent to 3.2939 at opening at 10.00 a.m. (0700GMT) Wednesday.
After surging to a fresh historic high of 3.3120 at 10.30 a.m. (0730 GMT), the rate retreated back to 3.3030.
