ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index started the day with a 601.62-point increase to open at 107,807.78 points on Thursday.
On the fourth transaction day of the week, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 0.56 percent.
The banking and holding indexes rose 0.64 percent and 0.51 percent, respectively.
All the sector indexes gained in value; the transportation sector increased the most, by 0.80 percent.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate climbed to 3.5340 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Thursday, compared with 3.55 at Wednesday’s close.
The BIST 100 was up 165.49 points, or 0.15 percent, to close at 107,206.16 points on Wednesday, with a total trading volume of 4.6 billion Turkish liras (approximately $1.3 billion)
