ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index BIST 100 started the day up 1,229.20 points or 1.18 percent, reaching 105,045.25 points on Thursday.
The banking and holding sectors indices rose 1.53 percent and 1.24 percent, respectively.
Among all sectors, the transportation sector index was the best performer, rising 2.38 percent, while the insurance sector index fell most with a 0.10 percent decline.
The BIST 100 was up 0.41 percent to close at 103,816.04 points on Wednesday with a trading volume of 6.9 billion Turkish liras (around $1.89 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate slipped to 3.6330 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Thursday, compared with 3.6670 at Wednesday’s close.
