Borsa Istanbul up at opening

BIST 100 index up 0.24 pct while US dollar/Turkish lira rate drops to 3.84

ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index BIST 100 rose 276.22 points or 0.24 percent to open at 114,441.90 points on Tuesday.

The banking sector index dropped 0.25 while the holding sector increased 0.53 percent respectively.

Among all sector indices, the textile/leather sector index was the best performer, gaining 1.15 percent, while the banking sector index saw the biggest decline.

Turkey's benchmark stock index previously closed Monday up 2,872.90 points at 114,165.67 points, marking its highest-ever close with a trade volume of 8.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.22 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 3.8450 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Tuesday, compared with 3.8730 at Monday's close.

In addition, the euro/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 4.4650 at 9.30 a.m. local time Tuesday, compared with 4.4890 at Monday's close.

Brent oil rose to $64.31 per barrel at 10.30 a.m. local time (0730 GMT) compared to $62.80 at Monday's close.

Investors will be following speeches by European Central Bank President Mario Draghi and cash realization data from Turkey's Treasury.
