ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index BIST 100 rose 1.40 percent or 1,588.21 points to open at 115,021.06 points on Wednesday.
The banking and holding sectors were up 1.85 and 0.57 percent, respectively.
Among all sector indices, the mining sector index was the best performer -- gaining 3.78 percent. The insurance sector index was the index to only one to drop, losing 0.13 percent.
The U.S. dollar went up to 3.7910 Turkish liras at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Tuesday's closing rate of 3.7820.
The euro-lira rate also climbed to 4.6740 from the previous day’s close of 4.6620.
The price of Brent oil was down to $64.78 per barrel as of 9.36 a.m. local time (0636GMT) Wednesday, compared with $65.02 at Tuesday's close.
