ISTANBUL (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,423.88 points on Thursday, up 0.44% or 6.22 points from the previous close.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 0.9% and closed at 1,417.66 points -- an all-time high -- on Wednesday, with a daily trading volume of 28.1 billion Turkish liras ($3.7 billion).
The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.6400 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), up from 7.6290 at the previous close.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 9.3300 from 9.3060, while one British pound traded for 10.3600 Turkish liras, up from 10.3360.
One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $51.45 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
