BIST 100 opens 0.38 percent higher

ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index surged 293.03 points to open at 76,532.65 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark index advanced by 0.38 percent while the banking and holding sector indices increased by 0.25 and 0.59 percent, respectively.

In the second transaction day of the week, all the sector indices gained value while the securities investment trust sector increased the most, by 0.71 percent.

Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to stand at 3.4850 at 10.00 a.m. (0700 GMT) Tuesday.

On Monday, the lira lost value against the greenback by five percent to close at 3.4688.

It is expected that over the next two days, Turkish markets will focus on the U.S. Federal Reserve’s rate decision expected to be delivered towards mid-week.

On Tuesday, the Turkish Treasury will hold two bond auctions for two fixed coupons.

The two-year benchmark bond was traded within a range of 11.09 percent - 11.17 percent, ending the day at an 11.17 percent, 23 base points above its previous close.
