ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 index rose 94.31 points to open at 86,390.04 during its first transactions on Wednesday.
The benchmark index started with a 0.11 percent increase in the third opening session of the week.
The banking and holding sector indices were up 0.01 percent and 0.12 percent, respectively. Among sector indices, the construction sector index was up the most, 1.28 percent, in initial transactions. The biggest drop was in the electricity sector, which fell 0.10 percent.
Meanwhile, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was flat at 3.7860 at 9.30 a.m. (0630GMT) Wednesday, compared with 3.7870 at Tuesday's close.
Gold held at $1,206.98 an ounce.
U.S. crude futures fell by 0.13 percent to $52.74 a barrel, while benchmark Brent crude futures were down 0.23 percent to $55.45.
