ANKARA (AA) - Turkey's benchmark stock index BIST 100 rose 0.54 percent to open at 117,573.86 points on Tuesday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 climbed 627.64 points from Monday's close of 116,946.22. The banking and holding sectors were up 0.84 and 0.62 percent, respectively.
Among all sector indices, the real estate investment trusts sector index was the best performer -- up 0.94 percent -- while transportation was the sole sector to open down, falling 1.26 percent.
The U.S. dollar dropped to 3.8070 Turkish liras at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Monday's closing rate of 3.8210.
The euro-lira rate also slightly dropped to 4.7020 from the previous day’s close of 4.7030.
The price of Brent oil rose to $65.64 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday, compared with $65.54 at Monday's close.
