BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina commemorated nine Bosniak civilians and seven unarmed soldiers Thursday who were killed by Croatian Defense Council (HVO) troops near historic Mostar city.

Relatives of the victims laid flowers at a monument in Rastani village to mark the 30th anniversary of the violent attack.

"It is our duty to keep the memory of those we lost alive. We will do everything so that what happened here is not forgotten," said Adnin Hasic, an organizer of the ceremony.

The Bosnian War lasted from March 1, 1992 to Dec. 14, 1995.

More than 100,000 people were killed and 2 million residents were forced to flee their homes.
