ATHENS (AA) - A boycott of American goods in Sweden is spreading in reaction to US President Donald Trump’s rhetoric and policies, media reports said Tuesday.
A recent survey by Verian on behalf of public broadcaster, SVT, showed 29% of Swedes have refrained from buying US goods in the past month as a political protest, with 10% saying they have completely boycotted and 19% only certain goods.
Almost 40% noted that they are considering giving up US products in the future.
Trump's statements about Ukraine, European security policy and tariffs in the past month have left an obvious mark on Swedish public opinion, according to the broadcaster.
Also commenting on the findings, Per Soderpalm, opinion manager at Verian, maintained that skepticism toward the US is growing among the Swedish public.
