ISTANBUL (AA) - Brazil’s industrial production rose 0.4% in August, compared to the previous month, according to data released Tuesday.
The figure was than expectations of a 0.5% gain after contracting 0.6% in July.
Pharmochemical and pharmaceutical products posted a monthly surge of 18.6%, while computer equipment and electronic products jumped 16.6%, the country’s Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) said in a statement.
Industrial output expanded 0.5% in August, compared to the same month of last year, also below estimates.
The market expectation for the annual figure was an increase of 0.8% after it decreased 1.1% in July year-on-year.
