ISTANBUL (AA) - Brazil’s industrial production rose 0.9% in March, from the previous month, according to official data released Friday.
The figure was expected to show a 1% increase after rising 0.1% in February.
Two of the four major economic categories and only five of the 25 industrial sectors surveyed showed progress in production, the Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) said in a statement.
The expansion was led by printing and recording with a surge of 8.2%, and textile with a leap of 4.5%, according to the institute.
On an annual basis, industrial output was down 2.8% in March, compared to the same month in 2023, IBGE said in the statement.
The market expectation for the annual figure was to show a decrease of 2.6% after it rose 5.4% in February year-on-year.
