ISTANBUL (AA) - Retail sales in Brazil declined 1.3% in December, compared to the previous month, falling more than estimates, according to data released Wednesday.
The expectation for the figure was to show a decrease of 0.2% in December on a monthly basis, following a 0.1% increase in November.
Annually, retail sales rose 1.3% in December, compared to the same month in 2022, also coming lower than estimates, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The expectation for the figure was to show an annual increase of 2.9%.
Retail sales increased 2.5% in November year-on-year.
