Brazil's unemployment rate falls to 7.4% in October-December period

Unemployed population stood at 8.1 million, according to official data

ISTANBUL (AA) - Brazil's unemployment rate fell to 7.4% during the October-December period, according to data released Wednesday by the Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The figure is a 0.3 percentage point decline from the preceding three-month period when it stood at 7.7%.

It has been the lowest unemployment rate since the quarter ending in January 2015, according to IBGE.

The latest figure is also a decline of 0.5 percentage points, compared to the same period in 2022 when it was recorded at 7.9%.

In the October-December period of 2023, the number of the unemployed population stood at 8.1 million.
