ISTANBUL (AA) - Brazil's unemployment rate fell to 7.9% during the May-July period, according to data released Thursday by the Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
The figure is a 0.6 percentage points decrease from the preceding three-month period when it stood at 8.5%.
This is the lowest rate for a quarter ending in July since 2014 when it had stood at 7.0%, according to IBGE.
It is also a decline of 1.2 percentage points compared to the same period last year which was recorded at 9.1%.
In the May-July period this year, the unemployed population stood at 8.5 million, falling 6.3%, from the previous three-month period.
