ATHENS (AA) - Bulgaria’s National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) issued a red code Tuesday for an extremely hot weather wave for Wednesday.
Excluding the provinces on the Black Sea Coast, the entire country will experience a hot weather wave with temperatures forecasted as high as 43 degrees Celsius (109 Fahrenheit), it said.
The Institute said through the end of July temperatures will be above monthly averages across the country while the weather will be mostly dry.
The country, where wildfires are forecasted because of extreme hot weather, will be helped by the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, by receiving two helicopters from the Czech Republic to help with the wildfires, the EU Commission reported.
