Winter is right around the corner. As the crisp autumn season transitions to winter, many of us will be making sure we have the appropriate gear to brace the winter’s harsh conditions. However, there are countless people around the world who will not be able to afford coats for themselves or their families. Whether they are refugees, internally displaced persons, or individuals facing poverty in their own homes, many of our fellow human beings will be suffering the sting of bitter winter in the coming days unless we step forward to help.
According to the UNHCR, freezing temperatures have already been recorded in many parts of Central and Southeastern Europe. In the coming weeks, the refugees in these locations in particular will have to battle heavy rain and snow with below zero temperatures. Even though there are temporary camps for the displaced, these makeshift centers won’t provide adequate shelter in the face of the upcoming winter. Those without adequate winter clothing run the risk of becoming so sick as to require hospitalization and may even die from exposure.
But there is hope. Please consider donating winter kits that will provide blankets, coats, sweaters, shoes, and other winter essentials to those in need. A $60 donation could provide a life-saving winter kit in one of several places across the world, including Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Turkey, India, various countries in Europe (refugees), and more. With your generosity, please help us bundle up the world this winter.
