ISTANBUL (AA) - French football club OGC Nice confirmed on Wednesday the signing of Burundian defender Youssuf Ndayishimiye from Türkiye's Medipol Basaksehir.
“Youssuf is a versatile player capable of playing in central defence and in midfield,” said Nice sporting director Florent Ghisolfi, adding: “Youssuf will give us squad depth. He’s a complete player and is highly committed and competitive. He matches the values and the identity that we want to give the team.”
CEO Fabrice Bocquet said Youssuf’s arrival has two aims: "To perform well in the second half of the season and to prepare for the future."
“We have great prospects and big challenges in common; he has all of our faith, and we hope that he feels welcome!” he added.
The duration and financial terms of the agreement, however, were not disclosed.
Ndayishimiye has played for Burundi's Aigle Noir FC and Turkish club Yeni Malatyaspor. He produced eight goals and four assists in 74 matches for Basaksehir.
The 24-year-old also scored one goal in 17 matches for Burundi.
