ISTANBUL (AA) – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen cancelled his participation at the ongoing G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, after he tested positive for COVID-19.
Sen was in Bali to attend the summit of the world’s top 20 economies as the current chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
This weekend, Sen hosted US and South Korean presidents, besides Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and other ASEAN leaders, for the regional bloc’s 40th and 41st summits in Phnom Penh.
The two-day G-20 summit began early on Tuesday in Bali.
“For the safety of delegates attending the (G20) meeting, I decided to let all the Cambodian delegates go back to Cambodia,” Sen said on Facebook.
The Cambodian delegation reached Bali on Monday, when their medical samples were taken for testing.
