Villeneuve was one of the most beloved drivers in Formula 1.

Following his death, the Canadian Grand Prix circuit was renamed as the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in the province of Quebec to honor the former Ferrari driver.

His son Jacques, 49, was also a Formula 1 driver, winning the 1997 World Championship title.
