KUWAIT (AA) - Registration in Kuwait for candidates in snap parliamentary elections scheduled for April 4 will begin on Monday, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

The statement said that applications for membership in the National Assembly will be accepted until March 13.

Candidates should be “at least 30 years old, Kuwaiti citizens and not have a finalized judicial decision against them."

Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah dissolved the parliament elected in June 2023 on Feb. 15, citing its violation of constitutional principles.

In Kuwait, where political disagreements between the government and parliament members have occurred, the public had previously gone to the polls three times between 2010 and 2013 during the administration of Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah to elect members of parliament.
