ISTANBUL (AA) – China announced on Friday that it will impose anti-dumping duties on propionic acid products originating from the US.
The Commerce Ministry of the world’s second-largest economy stated that duties of up to 43.5% will be levied from Sunday on all US companies exporting the product. The duties will remain in effect for five years.
Beijing’s decision follows an anti-dumping investigation that began in July last year, after which the ministry concluded that the nation’s domestic industry had suffered “substantial damage due to the dumping of such products.”
Used mainly in the manufacturing of preservatives and herbicides, propionic acid products are widely utilized in food, feed, and pesticides.
