China has successfully launched a test satellite for communication technology into space, the state-run Xinhua News agency reported on Saturday.
The satellite, designed for applications in satellite communication, radio and television broadcasting, and data transmission, was sent into orbit on Friday from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province.
In addition to its primary functions, the satellite will conduct tests and verification of related technologies.
This launch marks the 554th mission of China’s Long March carrier rocket series, highlighting Beijing's ongoing efforts to expand its space technology capabilities.
Earlier this month, China also launched an experimental satellite aimed at testing new communication technologies.
