ISTANBUL (AA) — A South Korean football player detained in China on suspicions of bribery touched down in Seoul on Monday after being released by Beijing.
Son Jun-ho was detained for around 10 months in China’s northeastern Liaoning province since last May, Seoul-based Yonhap News reported.
He played for Shandong Taishan in the Chinese Super League and was detained on bribery charges.
The veteran Korean football player landed at Incheon International Airport, west of the capitol Seoul.
"We have requested cooperation through various channels with Chinese authorities to ensure a swift and fair process," said South Korea's Foreign Ministry.
