TUNIS, Tunisia (AA) - China and Tunisia on Tuesday stressed the need to stop the Israeli war on Gaza that has been going on for more than three months.

This came during a meeting between Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, who is in Tunis on an official visit.

According to a Tunisian Foreign Ministry statement, Ammar said there are "convergence of views" between the two countries on issues of common interest and developments on international and regional levels, including the Palestinian cause.

He stressed "Tunisia's firm position is in support of restoring full legitimate Palestinian rights," it added.

Israel has pounded the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7, killing at least 24,285 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuring 61,154 others, according to local health authorities.

The Chinese foreign minister’s visit came as the two nations celebrate 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
