ISTANBUL (AA) - China on Thursday expressed readiness to work with Brazil to jointly promote the “building of a China-Brazil community with a shared future,” local media reported.

This came in a congratulatory message by Chinese President Xi Jinping to his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, as the two leaders exchanged congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the bilateral relations between their countries, according to the Xinhua news agency.

Xi said China and Brazil, as major developing nations and key emerging markets, "are like-minded good friends and partners that join hands and move forward together."

He added that as the two countries promote the development and revitalization of their own nations, they have also made significant contributions to global peace, stability, and prosperity.

For his part, Lula said that the relations between the two nations "are increasingly important for building the multipolar order, as well as a more just and effective global governance," adding that "the bilateral ties also play an underpinning role in the stability and predictability of the two countries and the world."

He noted that Brazil and China will "chart a new course together and create a bright shared future."
