BEIJING (AA) – Chinese airlines have carried over 700 million passengers this year, hitting an all-time high, according to a new report by the Chinese Civil Aviation Administration (CAAC).
The country’s passenger count totaled 700.5 million as of Dec. 15, with 640 million traveling on domestic flights and 60 million on international flights, the administration said on Monday.
The number of passengers flying on domestic routes climbed 14% year-on-year while those on international routes soared 130%.
The average occupancy rate on flights was over 83%, reaching pre-pandemic levels.
In 2023, airlines in China carried 640 million passengers.
