ISTANBUL (AA) - The Chinese foreign minister and US national security advisor had "candid, substantive, and productive" talks, Beijing said on Saturday.
According to Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Hua Chunying, the officials met in Bangkok, Thailand.
"On Jan. 26-27, Foreign Minister Wang Yi had candid, substantive and productive talks with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in Bangkok," Chunying said on X.
The meeting comes shortly after the 17th US-China defense policy coordination talks in Washington, which were held on Jan. 8-9.
Diplomatic tensions arose between the US and China after Beijing unilaterally cut high-level military communications in August 2022 after then-US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi paid an unannounced trip to the island of Taiwan, which the latter considers its own territory under the "One China" policy.
