ISTANBUL (AA) - China's Fudan University announced Wednesday it will offer more than 100 Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses, with at least 60 in the upcoming fall semester alone, according to a media report.

The initiative supports national efforts to boost digital literacy and develop AI talent for innovation and growth in emerging industries, said Beijing-based Global Times.

"We are not establishing an artificial intelligence institute, but mobilizing all students to aim at the construction of a scientific intelligence innovation ecosystem," said Chen Yan, executive vice dean of the school's graduate school.

Each degree program's study plans will clearly outline the requirements for developing AI literacy and skills.

Several universities, alongside government departments like the Education Ministry, have launched joint action plans to improve digital literacy and skills which aims to enhance digital competency in schools and drive growth in the digital economy.

Several universities in China started to launch an AI general curriculum to enhance AI literacy among all new students.

The professional AI essential courses aim to cultivate top talent in AI, requiring a strong foundation in the subject.

Currently, 64 professors have been recruited from various university departments.
