ISTANBUL (AA) - A former high-ranking official with the Communist Party of China (CPC) was given a suspended death sentence Tuesday for corruption.
Zhou Jiangyong, former CPC chief in eastern Zhejiang province, took bribes amounting to around 182 million yuan ($25 million), according to Beijing-based Xinhua News.
He was given a suspended death sentence by the Intermediate People's Court of Chuzhou in eastern Anhui province.
The court ordered his political rights revoked for life and his assets were confiscated.
