Chinese Formula 1 driver Guanyu Zhou on Thursday signed a new deal with Alfa Romeo to extend his stay with the team for another season.

In a statement, the F1 said that Zhou, 24, will keep his driving seat at the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake in 2024 alongside his Finnish teammate Valtteri Bottas.

"Signing again with the team is always a great feeling, especially when we know how things are shaping up," Zhou said.

"I am proud to be part of Alfa Romeo and grateful for their trust," he added.

So, Zhou will have an opportunity to drive in his home country for the first time as the Chinese Grand Prix will return to the F1 calendar in 2024 after a four-year hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I am also very excited about the opportunity to finally race with my team in China, in front of my home crowd. It will be a great moment and I’m proud to be able to share it with all those who have supported me," he added.

Zhou has four points to be in the 16th spot in the 2023 F1 driver standings, which is led by Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who has 364 points.
