ANKARA (AA) - Danish player Christian Eriksen returned to the national team for the first time after he suffered a cardiac arrest during a UEFA EURO 2020 match in June.

Brenford's midfielder was called up to the 23-man Denmark squad on Tuesday for the upcoming friendly matches over the Netherlands and Serbia in March.

Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during a EURO 2020 Group B game against Finland in Copenhagen's Parken Stadium on June 12.

He underwent a successful operation and was discharged from hospital on June 18.

Eriksen did not make appearance for Inter and his native Denmark for several months before joining the English Premier League side Brentford on a free transfer during the winter transfer window.

Having become three-time Dutch champion with Ajax, Eriksen helped Inter win the 2021 Italian Serie A title.
