GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – Israeli forces clashed with Palestinian fighters near the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, west of Gaza City, on Friday evening, local media reported.
“Violent clashes broke out between the occupation forces and the resistance (group) near the Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City,” Felesteen daily reported.
It went on to report, “Violent clashes are taking place among the resistance fighters against the invading occupation forces near Al-Quds Hospital in the Tal Al-Hawa neighborhood south of Gaza City.”
Some of the Palestinians who had taken shelter inside the Al-Shifa medical complex fled to the south, while thousands of others are still inside the hospital, an Anadolu correspondent reported.
Almost all hospitals in the besieged Gaza Strip came under Israeli attacks and airstrikes in the last 24 hours, including Al-Shifa, which saw at least four rounds of Israeli airstrikes in the same period.
Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip – including hospitals, residences, and houses of worship – since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas on Oct. 7.
At least 11,078 Palestinians have been killed, including 4,506 children and 3,027 women. The Israeli death toll, meanwhile, is nearly 1,600, according to official figures.
