BRUSSELS (AA) - Hundreds of activists demonstrated Friday in Brussels to demand "climate and social justice."
The crowd at the Central Station was part of a planned protest organized by Youth for Climate, Fridays for Future and Rise for Climate Belgium in coordination with activists from around the world.
Hana, on behalf of Youth for Climate, told Anadolu that the group took to the street to show people that climate is more important than ever.
She noted that demonstrators want people, especially policymakers to give priority to climate change.
Dirk Van Esbroeck, from the Grandparents for Climate group, said protesters want to put climate on the political agenda ahead of local elections next month in Belgium.
Belgian climatologist Jean-Pascal van Ypersele attended and said climate and biodiversity, along with other environmental and sustainable development issues, really need to receive more attention.
“If people don't pay more attention to these problems, next generations will pay the price,” he told Anadolu.
