BOGOTA, Colombia (AA) - Colombian President Gustavo Petro met Monday with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York City.
Petro, who is attending the 78th UN General Assembly, held a private meeting with Guterres to discuss the country's peace process, the climate crisis and environmental issues.
"The new global strategy on drugs, climate crisis, environment and (Colombia's) Total Peace policy were topics of the meeting of President Gustavo Petro with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres," said a statement released by the Colombian Presidency.
Regarding the meeting, the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace (OACP) in Colombia stressed that "international support for peace in Colombia is being strengthened by the hands of our president in some of the world's most important scenarios."
During a meeting earlier in the day with Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Petro discussed bilateral relations between their two countries.
