ISTANBUL (AA) - The annual inflation rate was at 0% in China last month, raising deflation concerns in the country.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Friday, food, tobacco and alcohol prices fell by 1.5% in September on a yearly basis.
Meanwhile, producer prices in China declined by 2.5% year-on-year in the same month.
A country is considered to be in a state of deflation if prices decrease for three consecutive months.
In August, China saw both consumer and producer prices decrease.
Analysts said the government should take measures to strengthen domestic demand against the risk of deflation.
On a monthly basis, both consumer and producer prices slipped by 0.2% and 0.4%, respectively.
