ANKARA (AA) – Brazil eliminated Paraguay in a penalty shoot-out late Thursday to reach semi-finals in Copa America.
The regular time and the extra-time in the match ended goalless, as Brazil once again had to face their demons, which is going to penalty shootout against Paraguay.
Brazil won the game 4-3 in the penalty shootout and became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals in the tournament, their first semi-finals appearance since 2007.
Paraguay eliminated Brazil on penalties in two consecutive Copa America quarterfinals, in 2011 and 2015.
Brazil in semi-finals, will take on Venezuela vs. Argentina quarter-final winners, which will be played Friday at 4 p.m. local time (1900GMT).
Chile will face Colombia (Friday at 8 p.m. local time, 2300GMT) and Peru will play against Uruguay (Saturday at 4 p.m. local time, 1900GMT) in the quarter-finals.
