The Turkish Super Cup final which had to be played on Dec. 29, 2023 in Saudi Arabia has been canceled, Fenerbahce, one of the participating teams, announced on Monday.
"The Super Cup match scheduled to be played between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce on December 29, 2023 has been canceled as a result of the joint agreement between the participating teams and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF)," the Yellow Canaries announced in a statement.
Fenerbahce also claimed that they demanded a detailed investigation into all the processes that led to the postponement of the final, which was originally planned to be held in Saudi Arabia and attributed to club president Ali Koc.
It was postponed due to some problems in the organization and both teams decided not to play the final match in Saudi Arabia after the negotiations between the Turkish Football Federation, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and the Saudi authorities failed.
The date and the venue for the final is expected to be announced by the Turkish Football Federation.
