COVID-19 claims 63 additional lives in Egypt

Registered cases stand at 87,172; more than 27,850 recoveries

ISTANBUL (AA) - A total of 63 Egyptians have died from the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, according to the country’s health ministry.

It said the death toll reached 4,251 and the number of cases climbed to 87,172 with 698 new infections.

More than 27,850 people have recovered from the virus.

Since originating in China last December, the COVID-19 pandemic has claimed more than 600,000 lives in 188 countries and regions.

More than 14 million cases have been reported worldwide, while an excess of 7.9 million patients have recovered, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
