ISTANBUL (AA) – Health authorities in Oman, Morocco and Palestine registered additional fatalities due to the novel coronavirus on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Omani Health Ministry said six people had died from COVID-19, while 1,262 more infections were registered over the past 24 hours.
The country’s count now stands at 48,997 cases, including 224 deaths, and 31,000 recoveries.
In Morocco, two people succumbed to the virus, in addition to 186 new cases and 108 recoveries, according to the Health Ministry.
A ministry statement said the new figures bring the tally to 14,565 cases, including 239 deaths, and 10,281 recoveries.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Health Ministry recorded one virus fatality and 306 new infections, bringing the total cases to 5,092, including 22 deaths, and 668 recoveries.
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed over 538,000 lives in 188 countries and regions since originating in Wuhan, China last December.
More than 11.63 million cases have been reported around the world so far, with recoveries exceeding 6.31 million, according to figures compiled by US-based Johns Hopkins University.
