ANKARA (AA) - Croatia earned a spot at 2022 World Cup in Qatar in a dramatic 1-0 qualifiers win over Russia on Sunday.
Russia could have qualified for the World Cup if they had drawn with Croatia at Poljud Stadium in Split but they could not achieve it.
An own goal from Fyodor Kudryashov in the 81st minute goal sent the 2018 runners-up to the top of Group H with 23 points, finishing one point ahead of Russia.
Russia will head to the playoffs as Slovakia finished the qualifiers in the third spot with 14 points, followed by Slovenia on goal differences.
