Croatia dissolves parliament to hold general elections

General elections to be held 60 days after dissolution of parliament

BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) - Croatia dissolved its parliament Thursday after a session was held on general elections.

All 143 deputies who attended the session in the 151-seat parliament voted for dissolution.

The date of the general elections will be announced by President Zoran Milanovic.

The last general elections were held July 5, 2020.

Elections are expected to be held no later than 60 days after the dissolution of parliament.

General elections in Croatia are held every four years.

Center-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), led by Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, declared victory in the elections in 2016 and 2020.
