ISTANBUL (AA) - Croatia’s goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic donated his signed 2022 World Cup jersey and gloves to earthquake victims in Türkiye, the Turkish ambassador to Zagreb said on Saturday.
"Croatian National Team's Goalkeeper Dominik Livaković donated his signed jersey and blockers, which he wore during quarter-final #Qatar2022 and saved the penalties with, to help earthquake victims in #Türkiye," Yavuz Selim Kiran said on Twitter.
"Thank you kind hearted #Livakovic…," he added.
Livakovic, 28, who currently plays for Dinamo Zagreb has made 41 appearances for the Croatian national team, including seven in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
At the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Croatia defeated Morocco 2-1 to finish in a third-place.
At least 40,642 people were killed by the two strong earthquakes that jolted southern Türkiye on Feb. 6, according to the latest figures.
The 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude quakes were centered in Kahramanmaras province and struck 10 other provinces -- Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Hatay, Gaziantep, Malatya, Kilis, Osmaniye, Elazig and Sanliurfa. More than 13 million people have been affected by the devastating quakes.
